Latin Thursdays: Celebrating Latin Culture At Diseño

Latin Thursdays Celebrating Latin Culture At Disentildeo
This past month at Diseño we had the pleasure of hosting three special "Latin Thursdays" events to introduce our new showroom at 460B Harrison Avenue. We celebrated the inspiration behind the brand itself--the vibrant and beautiful Latin American culture, specifically the countries of Argentina, Brazil, and Peru. Our Latin inspired events encompased food, drinks and live entertainment.

Each week we served delicious meat and veggie empanadas from Capone Foods in Somerville, MA as well as a unique cocktail popular to each country. We featured mojitos, caipirinhas, and pisco sours. Big thanks to our bartender Paul who executed each one perfectly. They were quite delicious and a big hit with our guests, as was our snacks and entertainment!

Live entertainment consisted of the sensational musical duo Marianella Rojas and Tomas Murmis, both of Berklee College of Music, and both clearly going places. We also had professional tango dancers, demonstrating both classical and improvisational dance. They, too, were very impressive and beautiful to watch!

Marianella and Tomas performed several Latin ballads as well as up-tempo 'bossa nova' for the crowd, singing in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Tomas' guitar playing along with both of their voices really were a treasure to hear and we can't wait to have them back!

At each event, we held a raffle for one of our products. These items included the cookbook "Seven Fires: Grilling The Argentine Way," by famous Argentine chef and restauranteur Francis Mallmann, one of our cowhide pillows, and a Colombian leather tablet/iPad case. See one of the lucky winners below, our neighbor Michael Ratty, among other fun moments from the three events! To see all the pictures from the events check out our gallery page titled "Latin Inspired Events."

Big thanks again to our performers and the guests who came out to support us. It was truly a pleasure seeing old friends and making new ones and we look forward to seeing all of you in the near future. Until then, hasta pronto!

Cheers,
Frank Campanale
