A Worthy Cause: The Twelve In Twelve Foundation

A Worthy Cause The Twelve In Twelve Foundation

The Lewis Family. Buck, Jackson, J.D. (from left to right)

I'm happy to share with you The Twelve In Twelve Foundation, which is a foundation started by a good friend of mine, J.D. Lewis and his two sons Jackson and Buck. With a powerful and inspiring mission to make a "measurable, positive impact on the global community," Lewis and his sons selected twelve organizations from all seven continents to travel in one year. The countries visited include Russia, China, Thailand, India, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Haiti, Mississippi, as well as two of my favorite Latin American countries Peru and Argentina. Their goal is to develop programs that will promote long term results for each community by enocuraging self-reliance, self-worth, and integrity.

In Argentina, the family participated in Refugio De Monos in La Cumbre, which is the first and only center for the rehabilitation of primates, specifically howler monkeys. The program has various kinds of rehab programs that focus on physical, psychological, and social rehabilitation. Check out some of the pictures below from their trip:

In the city of La May in Peru, they volunteered at Casa de Milagro, a home that nutures and develops abandoned children with a focus on their minds, bodies, and spirits. Their hope is to instill a sense of self-esteem and self-worth. At the time of their trip, the home was caring for 23 children. You can see some of the kids below:

The family's next step in making an impact is a new project called Twelve Good Deeds, in which both children and adults commit to doing 12 good deeds as well as getting 12 sponsors who give them a dollar for each good deed they accomplish. All of the money then goes to one of the 12 organizations worldwide.

For more information on how you can help, whether it's donating, volunteering, or sponsoring a program, please visit their website here. Thanks for sharing these inspiring stories J.D.!
